We at Cambridge Associates have been asked many times: “How can I learn to take better travel photos?” Our answer, join us on a tag along travel photo trip.

The first step is to get on our email notification list. That way you can be notified as early as possible of upcoming trips. To do that, please click on the mailing list icon and fill out the form.

Who should "tag along"?

Anyone who truely wants to travel and make truly memorable travel images. Photographers of all experience levels are welcome.

Cancellation

Unlike most other photographic workshops we do not cancel under normal circumstances. What does that mean for you? Once you sign up the trip will go, even if there is just one person enrolled.

What are tag along travel photo trips?

Cambridge Photography, Inc. plans to offer one or two tag along travel photo trips per year. Most of our trips are to photographically inspiring areas of Europe; areas that will positively stimulate your artistic senses. Our knowledge of the surrounding areas will always provide the opportunity to create powerful photographic images. We keep the groups small, no more than eight per instructor, so that you will receive significant amounts of one-on-one instruction. That allows us to help photographers with all levels of experience in each workshop. We work with each student to develop how you see the world and how you interpret your vision and emotions on film.

Our Guarantee:

Cambridge Photography, Inc. absolutely guarantees your satisfaction with your workshop experience. If for any reason you honestly are not happy with your workshop experience and notify us on the last morning of the workshop or call Walt Kendall at 970-330-9101 by the end of business on the Monday directly after the workshop, we will allow you to register for an additional workshop at no cost during the upcoming eighteen months. Please understand that we cannot guarantee your satisfaction with the weather, yet dealing with the weather is part of the learning experience. We cannot guarantee your satisfaction with accommodations, transportation companies, your meals nor other aspects of the tag along travel photo trip that are out of our control, yet learning to travel in all sorts of conditions is very valuable. We want all of our participants to learn, and will do everything possible to ensure that they do.

What’s a typical shooting day like?

Shooting days normally have five major components:

• Morning or evening briefing
• Group shooting time
• Individual assignment
• Individual critiques
Free time

Briefing:

Most days will include a group meeting and briefing. The plan of the day (or next day) will be outlined, travel arrangements to shooting locations will be detailed, and general information dispensed. This is a good time to ask general information questions. Briefings normally last 30 minutes or less.
back

Group Shooting Time:

Most days include a two or three hour group shoot at an inspiring location. The group shoot may be in the morning, afternoon or evening. We endeavor to spend time with each individual photographer during the group shoot.
back

Individual Assignment:

Photographers are given an assignment to carry out each day. The amount of time needed to carry out the assignment is up to each individual, and you may want to combine the assignment with your free time and sightseeing for the day. Those photographers that devote time and energy to the individual assignments are likely to benefit more from the tag along travel photo trip.
back

Individual critique:

For those that are shooting digitally, we try to set aside time each day for individual critiques. This kind of feedback is what forwards our progress as photographers more rapidly than anything else. Those shooting film can have their film developed along the way and get critiques during the trip as well.
back

Free Time:

Who wants to be in Paris, and not have the chance to visit the top of the Eiffel Tower? Exactly! Thus, we try to make sure that individuals have some time to see the sights, sip some coffee and dine well if they so choose. There is more to life than photography.

Fees and What is Included:

Each trip is priced independently, depending on the number of shooting days and other variables. Prices for each trip are quoted as part of the trip announcement. Prices tend to be around $125.00 per shooting day.

Except as otherwise noted, the fees quoted for the tag along travel trips include all instruction (within groups that are small, never more than eight per instructor, and sometimes less), a guarantee that our workshops will occur as scheduled no matter how many registrants we have (yes, we will go ahead with one registrant, and what an opportunity that is for that person), and our guarantee of your satisfaction described elsewhere within our information. Lodging, transportation to and from the initial and departure cities, local transportation, meals and drinks are not included in the fees quoted. An estimate of lodging costs, based on our best information at the time that a tag along travel trip is offered will be supplied for your convenience.

Transportation and lodging arrangements:

We do our best to share information concerning lodging and transportation arrangements with registrants. In other words, we will be happy to share with you how we plan to get to the starting point of each tag along travel trip, how we plan to get home from the ending point, and where we plan to stay in-between. If other than local transportation is required on a given trip, we will make sure that you have our detailed plans for that as well. We will do anything we can to assist you in making travel and lodging plans, short of booking lodging or transportation for you, as we are not a travel agency. You will need to do the actual booking.

Please be aware that Cambridge Photography, Inc. nor the group leaders are responsible for the services provided by third parties with whom you have individually made arrangements, such as air carriers, hotels, etc. We tend to stay in mid to low priced lodgings, viewing anyplace that is reasonably clean and comfortable as a good value. Please be aware that you may or may not be comfortable in the places we stay. If you think that you would prefer more elaborate accommodations, please feel free to make such arrangements. All that is necessary is that you be able to join the group at the appointed times and places for the tag along travel photo trips.

During daily briefings we will give reasonably detailed instructions as to how to get to meeting points for group shoots. However, you are responsible for getting there. Many times we can travel as a group, but not always. Local transportation may be by taxi, bus, metro, by foot or other forms of public transportation.

We will also give reasonably detailed information as to how to get from the arrival airport to the group leader’s place of lodging and from the group leader’s place of lodging to the departure airport. If you are staying elsewhere, we may not be able to offer detailed transportation advice.

Payment, Discounts, Cancellation and Refund Policies:

Fees for a given trip will be included in the information announcing that trip. A $250 deposit is required at the time of registration to hold your spot in each workshop. The balance of the registration fee is due 90 days prior to the date the workshop begins. A confirmation letter is sent at the time of registration along with an invoice that tells you the exact amount of the balance due and the due date. (No additional invoices will be sent.) You will receive additional mailings that will give you pertinent information about the group leader’s lodging and transportation plans, a list of things you should bring to the workshop and an agreement with release form/questionnaire that should be returned when received. Our preference is to take credit cards for the deposit, and then charge the same card for the balance on the due date. Any payments not made by the due dates could result in forfeiture of the deposit and loss of your reserved spot on the tag along travel photo trip. If you need to pay by check, payments must be made out to Cambridge Photography, Inc.

Unless otherwise noted, discounts are available as follows:

• $75 for any registration received within 21 days of the initial announcement of any tag along travel photo trip. The initial announcement date is included in each announcement.

• $50 for alumni enrollment in any workshop. (This is the only discount that may be combined with any other discounts.)

• $50 per person for any group registering at least three individuals in the same workshop at the same time. (This discount may be combined with the early registration discount.)

No other discounts are available for our tag along travel photo trip workshops.

Cancellations by registrants more than 90 days prior to the beginning of the workshop will result in a 50% refund of all monies paid. Cancellations by registrants between 60 and 90 days prior to the workshop will result in a 25% refund of all monies paid. tAny cancellations within 60 days prior to the beginning of any tag along travel photo workshop will result in the loss (forfeiture) of all monies collected. Any fees or penalties incurred by an individual for lodging, transportation or other arrangements made by an individual who cancels their registration will be the sole responsibility of the registrant. No exceptions can be made to these rules. Adherence to these rules is the only way that we can keep the groups small. We believe that the small size of the groups is the best way to assure a good learning environment for everyone.

Cancellations during a trip, for any reason, will not result in a refund of any kind. In other words, if you must drop out of a trip for any reason you will not receive a refund.

Age Restriction:

All registrants must be at least 18 years of age as of the date of departure for any given tag along travel photo trip workshop. There is one exception: Persons who are at least 16 years of age on the date of departure may register as long as they are accompanied by an also registered parent or legal guardian.

General Information:

Europe is not always as friendly to those with handicaps, special needs or limitations as similar locations within the U.S. Cambridge Photography, Inc. and/or the tag along travel photo trip workshop leaders are not responsible for assuring or gaining access for individuals with limitations, special needs or handicaps. Each individual is responsible for ascertaining that he or she will be able to participate fully in the activities of any given workshop.

Each registrant should be aware that we may be in the field for several hours at a time, often moving about during that time. Each individual registrant should be comfortable being in the field for at least three hours, and should be able to move themselves and their equipment from location to location without assistance from other group members or the workshop leaders. While it is often possible to rest for short periods during the day’s shoots, you should be in good enough physical shape to keep up with moderately paced activities in the field.

(All of the above is subject to change and or modification without notice.)
